Holiday region
A unique natural landscape with high peaks, reflecting mountain lakes and an exciting panorama at the Dolomites.
Waldhäuslhof is located in the upper Antholz Valley – right in the middle of one of the most beautiful holiday regions in South Tyrol. Our idyllic valley branches off at Olang from the Pustertal to the north, forms an arc from the middle valley to the east, and ends after around 20 kilometres at the Staller Saddle mountain pass.
Just before it lies the Antholzer See, one of the most fascinating mountain lakes in the Alps. Next to this 44-hectare body of water at 1,642 metres above sea level, many natural beauties await you.
As part of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, the Antholzertal offers panoramic trails, mountain bike paths, numerous managed huts such as our own Tyrolean hut, and summit routes on stately mountains with incredible views, such as Hochgall (3,436 m) and Wildgall (3,273 m).
The dreamy chapels in the valley bottom, our brook banks, moors, dark coniferous forests, and many nearby recreational areas – both for families and those seeking peace and quiet – are always worth an outing. There’s something for every type of holiday.
Do you come for winter sports? Near Waldhäuslhof lies the entrance to over 60 kilometres of cross-country ski trails. The well-groomed trails run through the Antholzertal to Rasen. The Antholzertal is part of the Dolomiti Nordicski carousel.
If you love biathlon, you will surely have already heard of the renowned biathlon centre at the Antholzer See. Would you like to try your hand at cross-country skiing or biathlon on your winter holiday? Your host Willy Messner will be happy to help. Winter and snowshoe hikes and toboggan rides at the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park are also a scenic delight.
And then there’s South Tyrol’s no. 1 ski mountain – Kronplatz. The popular ski area offers 119 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes with guaranteed snow in all degrees of difficulty, 32 modern lift systems, and many attractions for ski bunnies young and old. The free ski bus conveniently takes you to the lift systems.
